After a one-year hiatus, Florida State will return to college football's version of Monday Night Football on Labor Day 2018, a source in the Seminoles' athletics department has confirmed to Warchant.com.

The Seminoles have been told by the ACC office they will host Virginia Tech on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at Doak Campbell Stadium. It will mark the second time in three years that FSU opens its season on a Monday night, and the seventh time since 2005.

The Seminoles also are scheduled to play Notre Dame at home on Labor Day in 2021.

FSU opened the 2016 season against Ole Miss on Labor Day in Orlando. Before that, their previous Labor Day games were in 2013 at Pitt, in 2009 against Miami, in 2007 at Clemson, in 2006 at Miami and 2005 vs. Miami.

Florida State is 4-2 in those games.

The Seminoles' 2018 schedule will be very challenging with or without the Monday game. They will have non-conference dates against Florida and Notre Dame that year, and they will face the Irish, Miami, Louisville, N.C. State and Syracuse on the road.
