Delmonico, who will be a junior with two seasons of eligibility left, hit .325 for the Vols in 2007 with 11 doubles and 9 home runs. He was also named to the All-SEC Tournament Team, hitting .364 with two homers and 4 RBIs in the Volunteers' three games. As a freshman, Delmonico started 54 games, earning Freshman All-America honors and was a member of the SEC All-Freshman team.
With the early departures of infielders Tony Thomas Jr and Mark Hallberg, the move couldn't come at a better time for the Seminoles who also have also lost 2/3 of their starting rotation as well as a handful of other pitchers, their senior first baseman, and their starting center fielder. FSU also lost an infield signee when Richard Lucas was taken in the fourth round by the NY Mets and then signed shortly thereafter.
There are still some minor hurdles for Delmonico to clear, and it still could be contingent on his father getting a coaching job at another university - but it is still very likely as he intends to enroll in the fall.
