The Florida State men's basketball team has landed its first commitment for the Class of 2023, and it's a big one.
Four-star forward Taylor Bowen, who is rated by Rivals the No. 24 prospect in the country, announced Saturday afternoon he has committed to the Seminoles.
The 6-foot-9, 195-pounder, who has shown the ability to play on the perimeter and inside, appears to be a perfect fit for Leonard Hamilton's system. He is extremely athletic, long and is known for being aggressive at both ends of the floor.
In announcing his decision live on CBSSports HQ, Bowen credited Hamilton and associate head coach Stan Jones with leading his recruitment.
"I was really a big fan of Coach Jones and Coach Hamilton throughout the whole recruiting process," Bowen said. "I always wanted to go to somewhere where I could accomplish my dreams. I felt like Florida State was the perfect fit for me basketball-wise and off the court."

Bowen, who stars at the Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, chose the Seminoles over LSU, Iowa, Providence and others.
*SCOUTING REPORT: What FSU is getting in Taylor Bowen
At FSU, he will be coached closely by Jones, who has developed several highly acclaimed post players who also can play on the perimeter.
"You've seen what they've done with guys like Scottie Barnes and Jonathan Isaac," Bowen said of the former Seminoles who went on to be NBA lottery picks after one season at FSU. "They've had a lot of long wings that are comparable to myself. So it just made sense ... it's just a perfect fit."
Bowen said Jones also impressed him through the relationships he has with current and former players.
"It played a major factor," he said of his bond with Jones. "I always wanted to have a coach who had my back no matter what."
Bowen is another high-profile commitment for FSU, which landed elite international prospect Baba Miller earlier this month. Miller is a member of the 2022 class, which means he will be eligible to compete this upcoming season, while Bowen would arrive the following year.
