Florida State's first junior day of the year resulted in a big haul for the Seminoles. A pair of players committed on Saturday. In addition to a 2016 pledge from Godby's Cedric Wood, FSU also picked up a commitment from 2015 linebacker Brian Bell of Lowndes High School (Valdosta, Ga.)
Bell is a 6-foot-2, 200 pound prospect with offers from Cincinnati, Clemson, Georgia Tech and Louisville. He was offered by FSU earlier this month.
"I picked FSU because it is close to home," he said. "Everything just clicked here for me. I knew I wanted to be at FSU."
In a recent article from JacketsOnline.com, he said he grew up a Florida fan but decided to enter the process with a fresh perspective.
Bell plays outside linebacker but has also played inside linebacker. Last season he had 55 tackles, an interception and a blocked punt returned for a touchdown.
"FSU likes me at inside linebacker," Bell said. "I have a good connection with Coach (Charles) Kelly. He feels I fit well in their system."
Bell is Florida State's eighth commitment for its 2015 recruiting class and the first linebacker commitment. Seven of FSU's commitments in the 2015 class come from players within the state of Florida.
