Although he lives just across the state border in Valdosta, Ga., Jalen Goss hasn't been a regular visitor to Florida State University. Before attending an FSU camp this past summer, the last time he spent much time on the Tallahassee campus was when we was in the sixth grade.

Things have changed quickly for the Lowndes High offensive tackle.

Goss took an unofficial visit to FSU this past weekend and then hosted some Seminole coaches for an in-home visit on Sunday.

On Monday, he committed to Florida State.

"I had a great time," Goss said of his trip to Tallahassee. "(Former Lowndes teamamate) Gabe Nabers showed me around the IPF and then showed me a lot of things around campus. The IPF was really nice. I also liked how everything was so close together."

Goss, a 6-foot-7, 270-pound tackle, has received a great deal of interest from other colleges in recent weeks, including Miami, Auburn and Mississippi State. But he said he hit it off immediately with FSU head coach Willie Taggart, and he also enjoyed having his hometown friend Nabers by his side.

"He's a good guy. He's very smart and he's a good dude," Goss said. "There aren't too many people that don't like Gabe. I also met with Coach Taggart. He talked about what he's expecting from me and the type of things he plans to do."

Following that visit, the Florida State staff showed just how interested it was by having offensive line coach Greg Frey, running backs coach Donte Pimpleton and tight ends coach Telly Lockette make a return visit to Valdosta.

Goss already knew Frey well because Frey was recruiting him for his former school, the University of Michigan.
