On Friday afternoon, the 'Noles added another talented prospect from South Florida. Linebacker Patrick Joyner of Homestead has committed to Florida State and becomes the ninth commitment in the 2018 class.

"Yes sir, I just committed to Florida State a few minutes ago. I'm excited," he said. "That's a school I've always liked as a young kid, and I know they are going to get me to the next level."

Joyner added that FSU had everything he's been looking for and that this was a decision he's been thinking about for a while.

Joyner, who is currently participating in a 7-on-7 event, said that linebackers coach Bill Miller played a strong role in his commitment and added that their relationship has been solid for a while.

"Coach Miller is a great coach and I know he has helped put guys in the league," noted Joyner. "I like how he uses his linebackers, and I feel it's a great fit for me in seeing the type of things linebackers can do in this defense. I did my research on how they are used. I'm excited to work with him."

Joyner added that he will be back in Tallahassee on Monday for a follow-up visit.

"I'm going there Monday so I can spend more time with the players, coaches and just develop my relationships with them," he said. "I know Ermon Lane, who is already there but want to spend more time with the other guys."
