Isaac Jensen has a busy spring break ahead of him. The Omaha (Neb.) Millard South tight end stopped at Florida State on Thursday before trips to Texas A&M and Notre Dame.
Jensen had begun to build a relationship by phone and text with tight ends coach Chris Thomsen. And Jensen opted to make the long trip to Tallahassee to spend time with FSU’s coaching staff.
“Today was a great experience honestly,” Jensen said. “Just seeing everything for the first time, meeting all of the new coaches. They welcomed me with all of the coaching staff at the front. Meant a lot.”
Jensen has official visits scheduled to Missouri (June 6) and Nebraska (June 13). While he doesn’t yet have a date for an FSU official visit, Jensen said he will “probably” schedule one.
The schools that earn an official visit will be his top schools, a list he plans to announce in the next week or two. Why is FSU in the mix?
“I really like the way they use the tight ends,” Jensen said. “The energy that the coaches had and the passion that they coach with stands out from any other place that I visited.”
While distance could be viewed as a factor in building a relationship, that hasn’t been the case for Jensen. Seeing the Seminoles on the practice field continued a connection that Jensen has with Thomsen. And it likely helps that his high school teammate, Chase Loftin, is an early enrollee at FSU.
“I really like the way he coached,” Jensen said of Thomsen. “I think he’s a good coach. I still got more to learn. We have been building a relationship for a while. I have a good relationship with him. Probably one of the best of any other coaches that are recruiting me.”
