Florida State would appear to be in a pretty good spot health-wise entering Wake Forest week.
The main questions about injuries entering the week revolved around the Seminoles' wide receiver room. Freshman slot receiver Destyn Hill was not dressed out Saturday vs. Duke and wide receiver Johnny Wilson suffered an injury in the third quarter and did not return to the game.
FSU head coach Mike Norvell didn't share too specific of an update about either of these two at his Monday press conference. However, he didn't seem to be ruling out either of them for this week's game either.
"We'll see where it is," Norvell said of their statuses. "I can tell you Johnny was in a really good place yesterday coming out of the game. Destyn got more work yesterday in practice than he did in the previous week. Excited to see where those guys go as the week progresses."
Hill played in each of FSU's first six games, recording five catches for 59 yards before missing the Duke game.
Wilson had five catches for 58 yards against Duke before suffering the injury on a catch over the middle of the field late in the third quarter. It was the second time in three weeks that Wilson, who missed the previous week's game vs. Syracuse due to injury, left a game early after suffering an injury.
If either of them are unable to go this week, it opens opportunities up for guys like Kentron Poitier, who has made his first two career starts the last two weeks, and Ja'Khi Douglas to potentially take on a larger role.
"It does open up new opportunities. It's good that we have depth in that position," Norvell said of the injuries at wide receiver. "It's good that we see guys be able to get quality reps throughout the course of the game. Now it's just elevating the production."
