Injury report: Mike Norvell on shortage of WRs

PITTSBURGH — Florida State was about as shorthanded at receivers as the program has been for a game in recent memory. Darion Williamson was statistically the leading receiver (six catches, 80 yards, one touchdown) going into Saturday who was available at Pittsburgh.

The Seminoles were without star receivers Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman as well as Hykeem Williams and Deuce Spann. Kentron Poitier was limited but played a few snaps.

"They’re doing everything in their power to get back on the field but we're not going to put them out in position unless they can go out there and play to the best of their ability," FSU coach Mike Norvell said.

Before the game, Norvell announced through a team spokesperson that Wilson would miss the game. Norvell didn't offer much in the way of details or a timeline on Wilson, who was on the sideline, but said the staff was watching his progress. Wilson has now missed two games following a hit he took against Duke.

Coleman also missed Saturday's 24-7 win at Pittsburgh, although he was on the sideline pregame and throughout the afternoon.

"It’s just unfortunate in the last game there’s an injury that kept him out for tonight," Norvell said. "We’re very hopeful that he’ll be back extremely soon. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses this week."

Norvell also said Williams "is getting better" and that Deuce Spann is on the way back.

Kentron Poitier was in on a handful of plays. He was targeted three times but did not have a reception.

"Kentron was able to play a little bit but he was limited most of all the week," Norvell said.

Here's video of Norvell on Florida State's win, Ja'Khi Douglas' night (six catches, 115 yards), the defense shutting down the Panthers on third down, Alex Mastromanno's night and more.
