You can never have enough speed in college football, and Florida State picked up some more of it on Sunday with the commitment of West Florida Tech slot receiver Keyshawn Helton.
Helton, a three-star prospect, has flown somewhat under the radar despite being a nephew of former Florida State great Derrick Brooks.
The Pensacola product had said previously that he would definitely become a Seminole if the 'Noles came through with an offer. And once that offer came, Helton held true to his word.
"It's a dream come true," Helton said after taking an official visit to FSU this weekend. "I fit perfectly in this offense. I knew this was the place for me. My family cried when Coach Taggart told me I have an offer."
Helton said FSU's coaches told him they like him a slot receiver and return specialist.
Despite not being well known nationally, Helton finished his senior season with 67 receptions for 1,003 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also reportedly runs a 4.37 40-yard dash.
