The recruiting process can feel like a roller coaster at times with so many twists and turns, and one offer can send the ride screeching in a new direction.

Sanford Seminole (Fla.) LB/DE DeMarco Artis can attest to that after the three-star prospect landed some big news on Wednesday from his dream school, Florida State.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder had a feeling an offer from the Seminoles might be coming after his strong performance at FSU's 7-on-7 tournament in June. But he said it still caught him off-guard when it finally came.

"I was a little shocked because I was at work," Artis said. "Me and the [FSU] coaches have been back and forth the past few weeks. Then I asked to call Coach [Jimbo] Fisher, and we talked for a while, and he ended it by saying you have an offer from Florida State."

Artis said FSU likes him primarily as a linebacker.

"Man, it's huge," Artis said of the offer. "It's a blessing to get an offer from an elite program like Florida State, who is consistently one of the top teams in college football."

The biggest question now is how much this changes things for him. Although he is still committed to UCF, Artis said he now is planning a visit to Florida State.
