It certainly wasn't the result Florida State was looking for in Saturday's home opener when the Seminoles fell to N.C. State, 27-21. However, all was not lost on the recruiting trail as several recruits still had very good visits, including major 2017 target DE Dennis Briggs.
"I had a really good visit to FSU. The loss didn't really impact my visit," Briggs said. "You win some, lose some. I had a really good time being around the players, coaches. That was special to me. Seeing some of the recruits there was a lot of fun."
The four-star defensive end said that before and after the game, he spent a good amount of time with FSU coaches Rick Trickett and Brad Lawing, two of his main recruiters. He also spoke with FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher.
"A lot of it was about making sure everything was going great this season, and there wasn't much football stuff until after the game," Briggs said. "It was a lot of personable stuff, and I was very comfortable. I also had a really good talk with Coach Fisher. Not to mention he made it quite clear how much they want me."
The 6-foot-4, 260-pound end also stated that the atmosphere for the FSU game was very good. He said he enjoyed seeing how excited the fans were even before the game.
"I really had a blast man," Briggs said. "Being around the players, recruits and seeing that game-type atmosphere was really good."
When it came to watching the game, Briggs said he thought FSU's defensive ends were explosive and disciplined. Following the game, he said, he talked with FSU commitments Stacy Kirby and John Huggins.
