**Insider notes on backstory of Briggs choosing FSU**

New Florida State coach Willie Taggart might have gotten off to a late start with his first recruiting class in Tallahassee, but he and his staff clearly are making up for lost time.

On Sunday, the Seminoles landed a commitment from Rivals100 LB Xavier Peters. On Monday, they have added another commitment from the weekend visitors when four-star defensive end Dennis Briggs of Kissimmee, Fla. announced his commitment on Twitter.

Briggs, who is rated the nation's No. 13 strongside defensive end, could play defensive end or defensive tackle with the Seminoles. He was thought to be leaning toward Miami in recent weeks, but FSU apparently sealed the deal during Briggs' official visit this weekend.

FSU now has 14 commitments for the Class of 2018 and are expected to add another six or seven by National Signing Day next week.
