After a 4-1 week that included a midweek sweep at UCF and an ACC-opening series victory against Boston College, the Florida State baseball team moved up Monday to No. 1 in the latest national rankings by D1Baseball.com.
The Seminoles, who are 13-3, were previously ranked No. 3 by the site.
With Mike Martin's team moving up, Florida State now has the nation's top-ranked baseball and softball programs at the same time.
The FSU softball team, which is 22-1-1, has been ranked No. 1 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll since mid-February. This is the first time in school history that the Seminoles -- or any team in the ACC -- has been ranked first in that poll.
Both programs will put their No. 1 rankings on the line several times this week as the baseball team plays at rival Florida on Tuesday, at Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday and then at Virginia Tech this weekend.
The Seminoles' softball team will play three games in Fort Myers -- two against FGCU and one against Canisius -- during the week and then host Notre Dame this weekend.
