There are plenty of schools around the country hoping to change the mind of FSU commitment Akeem Dent, who has been committed to the Seminoles for nearly a year and is one of the nation's top players at any position.
But from the sounds of things, that is going to be very difficult to pull off.
"I'm going to FSU, and I feel very, very sure about that," Dent told Warchant.com. "There's no family and place like it. They have those 'dogs' on defense, and I can't wait to be a part of it."
Major college powers like Miami, Florida and even Alabama have pulled out all the stops to impress the South Florida standout. Alabama even flew head coach Nick Saban in on a helicopter to get Dent's attention.
But the 6-foot, 170-pounder insists that Florida State is on a different level.
"Thing is, when I visit other places, you get a feeling. But when I'm at Florida State, there's just no vibe or feeling that I have that is on that level," said Dent, whose older brother Aldarius is a walk-on wide receiver with the Seminoles. "I feel right at home. Aldarius is doing really well. I'm very excited for him, and he loves it there."
Dent recently spent a full week in Tallahassee on an unofficial visit and got an up-close and personal view of what it's like to be a Seminole.
"This was about me spending a full week with Aldarius so I could see what it's like to be a player and all the things he goes through," the younger Dent said. "Not to mention get the vibe of how I bond with all the guys. I loved it and really love this staff. They are all recruiting me, but I already feel apart of everything they are doing."
As sold as he is on FSU, Dent said he hasn't spent much time trying to convince other prospects to follow him to Tallahassee. He said that's not his personality. But he is not shy about proclaiming his excitement about the Seminoles' future and the strength of the 2019 class.
"Oh, it's going to be one of the best in the nation," he said. "We're going to win national championships. It's going to be really good."
