Florida State head coach Mike Norvell and linebackers coach Randy Shannon are still busy working the NCAA transfer portal to try and add production and experience to that position group.
The Seminoles are hosting Alabama linebacker Shawn Murphy on a visit after he entered the portal after the retirement of Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban. Murphy arrived on the FSU campus on Monday morning.
As a redshirt freshman this season, Murphy was a backup and played primarily on special teams for the Crimson Tide. He recorded three tackles in 13 games in 2023. He redshirted in 2022 after signing with Alabama out of Manassa (Va.) Unity Reed High, where he was rated as four-star prospect by Rivals and ranked as the second-best inside linebacker prospect in the country for the 2022 class.
Murphy is 6-foot-2 and 222 pounds and has three years of eligibility remaining.
