If all goes as planned, the James Cook saga finally will come to an end this Wednesday, on the first day of the NCAA's new early signing period.

Cook, a five-star running back and younger brother of FSU's all-time leading rusher, Dalvin Cook, told Warchant on Sunday that he will decide between the Seminoles and Georgia Bulldogs on Wednesday.

Cook originally was committed to Florida State but later decommitted and announced his pledge to the Bulldogs. The recent hirings of head coach Willie Taggart and assistant coach Telly Lockette might just have swung things back in FSU's favor.

"Wanted to give FSU another look with Coach Taggart," James Cook said on Sunday afternoon, adding that the Seminoles' new coach paid him a visit in South Florida this past week.

"Coach Taggart stopped by to see me on Thursday and asked if I'm interested in FSU and wanted to visit," Cook said. "I did want to. Plus they also have Coach Telly."

Lockette, of course, has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with the Cook family, having coached Dalvin Cook at Miami Central High School before leaving to join Taggart's staff at USF.

James Cook said he doesn't know Taggart as well, but he liked what he saw this weekend.

"It is a family atmosphere here," he said. "Coach Taggart brings a lot of swag, for sure."

Cook's host for his official visit was fellow Miami product Emmett Rice, who will be a junior linebacker with the Seminoles next season.

"Being around Coach Taggart and the players made me feel comfortable," Cook said. "I had a great time. Everyone made me feel comfortable."
