It seemed like a foregone conclusion since senior Sean Maguire was sidelined with a broken foot on the second day of preseason camp, but Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher finally made it official on Saturday: Redshirt freshman Deondre Francois will start at quarterback on Sept. 5 against Ole Miss.

Francois, who grew up in the Orlando area, will make his college debut in his hometown during the season opener at Camping World Stadium.
Francois, a former four-star recruit and the nation's No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2015, took all of the first-team snaps during Maguire's time away from the team and also worked with the starters all spring as Maguire recovered from a separate injury.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder has earned rave reviews from teammates and coaches for his natural ability and work ethic.
In the spring game, he completed 15 of 22 passes 205 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
