Jake Weinberg didn't waste much time — two days — in turning a Florida State offer into a commitment.

Weinberg said he was a big fan of FSU on New Year's Eve when he announced a scholarship offer and on Monday made his verbal commitment. In his profile on Kohl's kicking site, Weinberg is viewed as the nation's top kicker in the class of 2024.

"Jake Weinberg is a tireless worker who has gotten better and better since we first saw him as a hungry freshman player," kicking coach Jamie Kohl told the Osceola on Monday night. "His mindset and work ethic are different. I really feel good about Jake doing big things at the next level. He has a chance to win a lot of games for FSU. Weinberg has been preparing to be a consistent performer for awhile.

"In the last year, Jake has really made some nice athletic gains. Two weeks ago he hit an 85-yard kickoff to win our kickoff competition at the Southern Showcase. Everyone at camp knew Jake was a D1 player."

The 5-foot-10, 160-pound Weinberg plans to take a visit to FSU later in January.

Weinberg is the eighth commitment to FSU's 2024 class, a group that also includes four-star tailback Kameron Davis, four-star receiver Camdon Frier and three-star quarterback Luke Kromenhoek.
