The FSU quarterback addressed the media after Thursday's practice, talking about a wide variety of topics from his performance in the season-opening win vs. Duquesne and what lies ahead this Sunday against LSU.

On his level of confidence in year 3 as a starter

"I’m as confident as I’ve ever been in my life. My teammates helped me a lot, my coaches helped me a lot. I couldn’t do it by myself. I’m thankful for all of them. I’m thankful for all of my family members that push me every day. Keep the right mindset. … I wake up in the morning, I’m happy. I can’t wait to get out here."

On his comfort level, able to go fast or think fast

"When you know what you’re doing it’s a lot easier to go faster. Coach Norvell always talks about, ‘Go as fast as you can play.’ So I try not to rush anything. I just go as fast as I can play. Get to the line, see everything. Don’t rush anything. Just get the boys set and I can see what’s going on with the defense."

On Deuce Spann

"I would just say the confidence all in all. He’s very confident right now. You can just see it on his face, the way he walks. He has a smile on his face all of the time now. He’s starting to learn the offense again. This offense is not easy. And I give kudos to him because he works hard to understand everything. He’s getting better every single day."

On the challenges of preparing for what a new LSU coach and defensive coordinator will do

"A little bit of everything. We have an idea but we really don't know what (we'll) get. They could come out and run something totally different. Just trying to get an idea. We try to watch every little thing and just be ready for everything. We go against many different defenses in practices all the time during fall camp. ... I think we're ready for whatever."
