In addition to the numerous coveted 2024 prospects working out at Florida State's Elite Camp Saturday night, there were quite a few top-100 prospects from the 2025 class in attendance as well.
One of those recruits was 2025 four-star running back Alvin Henderson out of Elba (Ala.) High.
Henderson has quickly become one of the most coveted running backs in his recruiting class. Rivals ranks him as the No. 37 overall recruit and No. 3 running back in the 2025 class and he already has more than 70 scholarship offers from a host of top schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Texas A&M, Texas, Miami and many others.
His trip to FSU for the Seminoles' Elite Camp on Saturday night was his fourth trip to FSU in the last 12 months. He visited last fall for the Wake Forest game, came back in January for a Junior Day event and was back April 11 for a visit just before the Seminoles' spring game.
"It was a great visit all around," Henderson said of his visit to FSU.
Henderson has seen his profile blow up in a major way after a prolific showing in his sophomore seasons at Elba last fall. Over 12 games, the 5-foot-10, 190-pound prospect ran for 2,636 yards and 47 rushing touchdowns while working primarily as a rushing quarterback. He also completed four of his six pass attempts for 154 yards and a touchdown.
Over his many visits to FSU, Henderson has built strong relationships with both head coach Mike Norvell and running backs coach David "YAC" Johnson.
"Coach Norvell, every time I come down In here, he's telling me what he loves about me and how strong our relationship is," Henderson said of Norvell. "He wants to get me down here as much as I possibly can."
Henderson added of Johnson, "I like Coach YAC, I like his coaching style because he's not just a coach that coaches on the field. He can pull you off the field, show you everything. He can elevate you."
As for immediate plans, Henderson said he may make it to Auburn on Wednesday. As for his plans to return to FSU, he made those before even leaving campus Saturday night. He indicated he'll be in attendance for FSU's home game vs. Miami on Nov. 11.
As for his timeline for a commitment decision, Henderson, who has 18 months until his Early Signing Period begins as a 2025 prospect, is in no rush.
"I'm just taking it day by day. It could be soon, but I'm really not trying to rush it right now," Henderson said.
