Florida State returns to the football field this Saturday after postponing last week's scheduled game against Clemson.
The Seminoles are desperately looking to get back on track after losing three in a row, while Virginia comes to town trending in the opposite direction. The Cavaliers have won three straight after starting the season 1-4.
The game is set for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff on the ACC Network.
1. Jordan Travis should have some success throwing football
FSU quarterback Jordan Travis missed FSU's most recent game at N.C. State while he was recovering from concussion symptoms. All indications are that he will be back behind center this Saturday for the 'Noles. The redshirt sophomore has been getting off to hot starts in games, but he has been hampered by injuries in nearly every outing. Backup Chubba Purdy, who started the N.C. State game, is out for the season after suffering a setback to his earlier collarbone injury. With James Blackman no longer with the program, freshman Tate Rodemaker is the only other scholarship quarterback available this Saturday.
Florida State has been short-handed for most of the season at wide receiver. That situation got worse when All-ACC wideout Tamorrion Terry left the team a couple weeks ago. The two remaining receivers with the most experience -- juniors Ontaria "Pokey" Wilson and Keyshawn Helton -- have struggled at times. However, Wilson is coming off the best game of his career, racking up seven catches for 117 yards and a touchdown against N.C. State. The rest of the unit is unproven.
Defending the pass is a major shortcoming for Virginia's defense, as the Cavaliers' last four ACC opponents have all thrown for over 300 yards. The disappointing showing by the secondary could be due to a recent rash of injuries. Starting safeties Joey Blount and Brenton Nelson have both been out for a few weeks. Making matters worse, fellow safety D’Angelo Amos and cornerback Nick Grant both went down last week, and their status for Saturday is unclear.
