Florida State hosted three key targets in the spring, and one of the big names — Rivals250 QB Sam Howell — saw all he needed to see and has made his decision.
Howell had very close connections with FSU offensive coordinator Walt Bell and was blown away by his spring visit to Florida State. That visit was apparently all Howell needed to see as Taggart has landed his first quarterback commitment for the 2019 class.
Howell announced the decision Monday night.
Howell chose Florida State over Clemson, North Carolina, Florida and others.
Howell becomes the first quarterback commitment in the 2019 class for the Seminoles. But even going back to his visit to Florida State recently, it was clear the ‘Noles made a massive move for the strong-armed quarterback.
"I had a really good time," Howell said. "I camped here last year. Honestly, I learned a lot about what Coach Taggart is going to do here, and I think he's going to do great things here for sure. I think the most important thing I saw today was that the players are already buying into what he's trying to do, and that's very important."
Howell becomes the sixth commitment in the 2019 class for Florida State.
