A Florida State victory would have been nice. But it sounds as if that's the only way four-star linebacker Dax Hollifield could have had a better official visit to Tallahassee this past weekend.

The four-star linebacker said he was blown away by the trip and plans to return to FSU for another unofficial visit. If he does, that would be his third trip this year.

"I loved everything about it," Hollifield said. "This was the best visit I've ever had, no doubt about it. I really love Coach [Bill] Miller, the people there, Coach [Brad] Lawing and Coach [Jimbo] Fisher.

"Coach Miller, he's my type of dude. He grew up in the generation where you had to work for everything you got. That's my philosophy on things."

With so much high praise for the Seminoles, does Hollifield have a leader at this time?

"No, there isn't a number one," he said. "FSU is really high up there. I really love Florida State right now."

Hollifield, who is rated the nation's No. 7 inside linebacker, said his host for the visit was true freshman offensive lineman Brady Scott. Hollifield said they immediately hit it off.

"He's awesome. He probably knew everyone at Florida State," Hollifield said. "It was pretty funny. He's a Southern boy like me. We are just a lot alike and we clicked. I also spent some time talking with Matthew Thomas Sunday morning. He just told me how much he loved it there and how the coaches, team are always there for you. Nothing really big, but just talking."

Earlier this year, Hollifield took an unofficial visit to FSU and raved about his trip. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker said this visit gave him even more to like.

"I wanted to see the team in a game, and it was really good," Hollifield said. "The student section was really pumped, but I also wanted to see what it was like after the game. I wanted to see that, and I really loved it. I was surprised how big the school was. Being around the people at FSU overall really made a big impression."

Hollifield also got to see a great deal of what FSU offers academically, and the Seminoles didn't let up when it came to letting him know he was a top priority for the class of 2018.

"They took me to the engineering school, and I really liked the mechnical engineering they offer here at FSU," he said. "It was very detailed in what you can get out of it here at FSU."

When it came to the game, Hollifield said he enjoyed seeing how FSU's linebackers were used. He said he could see himself playing in the Seminoles' defensive system.
