Wins over Notre Dame and Louisville last week are why the Florida State men's basketball team enters this week ranked sixth in The Associated Press Poll which was released Monday.
It's also the highest ranking for any ACC team. In all, the ACC has six teams ranked in the Top 25. FSU (18-2, 6-1 ACC) and North Carolina, ranked ninth, are the only ACC teams inside the Top 10.
Ranked tenth last week, the Seminoles recently completed a string of games against six consecutive conference opponents ranked in The AP Poll. FSU went 5-1 in those contests which included a 83-80 win over No. 14 Notre Dame on Jan. 18 and a 73-68 victory against No. 13 Louisville last Saturday. Both wins were at the Tucker Center.
Those wins also kept the Seminoles in a first place tie with the Fighting Irish and the Tar Heels. All three teams have a 6-1 mark in conference play.
FSU will now play three straight on the road when it plays Georgia Tech (11-8, 3-4 ACC) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta. The Seminoles will then play a Saturday noon game against Syracuse (11-9, 3-4) at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.
The final road game comes Feb. 1 against Miami at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Fla. FSU's returns to the Tucker Center on Feb. 5 when it hosts Clemson.
